At present, Kids First Inc. represents a small cluster of treatment foster homes providing foster care for children and youth of all ages who can benefit from treatment within a family system. We recognize the differing resilience levels in children and youth and build on strengths, focusing on the ecological issue of developmental care, social skills acquisition and clinical treatment or resolution of trauma and past experiences. The combination of these treatment modes increases self esteem through care, competence and resolution.
Treatment is delivered through a planned, integrated constellation of services with key interventions and supports. The treatment team includes foster parents supported by a family worker, direct care workers, individual and/or play therapists, a consulting psychiatrist and psychologist and the placing agency's Program Manager.
Permanency planning is fundamental and we will work on this with the foster children, youth and their guardians. Our relationships will be defined as short term, moderate or long term, dictated by need.
Collaboration with placement agencies, treatment families, foster children/youth, and community resources marks our service.
